If a customer domain is already parked or attached to a hosting subscription, you may wish to move it onto a different hosting subscription. This is necessary for example when you need to switch a domain between windows and linux hosting accounts, or when you want to move only a subset of domains from a hosting or parking account (in other situations it is often easier simply to use the switch plan option to upgrade the entire subscription). If the subscription you wish to move the domains onto does not already exist, then you should first create it for your customer (see other kb articles). The procedure differs depending on whether the domain is registered on the customer's account (easiest) or not. To switch a *registered* domain between subscriptions ...
At this point the domain will be moved onto the new hosting subscription. Depending on the configuration of the new subscription the domain may be automatically configured for email (qmail) or set up for web hosting on the new account. Previous DNS records for the domain may be removed. You should now log on to the customer control panel and adjust email or hosting services and DNS as required. To switch a domain registered elsewhere between subscriptions ....

Depending on the history of the domain, it may not yet be completely enabled for DNS and email even though you can administer this domain on your account. This is for security reasons to prevent customers configuring DNS on Parallels Operations Automation for domains they do not own (and possibly disrupting email between other customers and these domains). This is evidenced by the domain not being listed as available for email in the hosting account even though it appears correctly under Domain Administration. In this case it is necessary for the reseller to first verify that the domain is indeed the property of the customer and then to set the registration status of this domain from 'Unknown' to 'Ready' on POA Domain Manager. | |
