Email account limits and quotas.

A number of email quotas and limits apply to email only and shared hosting email accounts.
Each account has a defined number of POP3 or IMAP accounts according to the plan purchased. Each individual email account will have a maximum storage capacity that is defined by the hosting plan - where not stated otherwise, this is normally 1GB per mailbox. The aggregate quota for all mailboxes is limited by the overall account disk storage limit. Email traffic will be counted into overall hosting account traffic for accounting and overage purposes.
Accounts also have a number of limitations that apply to the number and size of messages that you can send or receive.
The maximum size of any individual email you can send or receive is 50MB.
Please note that attachments are generally 10-20% larger than the original file size due to encoding.
You should not expect to be able to send attachments totalling much over 35MB.
The maximum number of recipients for any individual message is 100.
If you need to send to more recipients you can break your mailing into two or more messages each with less than 100 recipients.
You may also be able to relay your outbound emails via your ISP mail relay server which case different limits may apply.
Our mail system may rate limit the maximum message processing rate for shared hosting accounts in order to protect the sending reputation of our systems, to prevent attack and to prevent overuse affecting the service of other customers. Where not explicitly stated otherwise, the following message processing limits will apply:
Maximum number of messages per account in any minute: 50
Maximum number of messages per account in any hour: 250
Maximum number of messages per account in any day: 2500
Rate limiting is applied automatically by our system, emails above this limit will be delayed until the message processing rate has dropped below the applicable limit.
The above sending limits are applicable to SMTP submission port 587 which is the recommended port to relay your mail through. Email submitted through port 587 receives higher priority on our system. It is also less likely to be blocked by your ISP or mobile phone operator, and is processed separately to normal inbound traffic. Lower limits will apply on port 25 - these will generally be as outlined below but may be varied without notice during times of abnormally high load.
If you operate a regular mailing list with large numbers of addresses, we recommend the use of proper mailing list software or outbound emailing service in order to ensure that your mailings do not cause delays to your normal email and comply with current DP laws. You may also be able to relay your outbound emails via your ISP mail relay server which case different limits may apply.
Please note also that operation of your email and mailing lists must at all times conform to our Acceptable Usage Policy, and to the EU Directive on Privacy and Electronic Communications as transcribed into Irish Law. We reserve the right to immediately and without notice suspend or terminate any account if we become aware that it is in operating violation of the AUP or Irish/EU Law.
