How do I move a domain onto my hosting account ?

When a domain name is registered at the same time as a web hosting account is purchased, the domain will usually be automatically attached to the hosting and will work almost immediately after registration completes.

However, if you purchase hosting later, or upgrade a domain parking package to a web hosting account, the domain name will usually remain parked and will not be immediately attached to the hosting account until you specifically set this up.

To see if you need to switch a domain onto your new hosting account do the following ...

  • Log on to your control panel (https://cp.irishdomains.com)
  • Click Hosted Domains to see the list of domains configured on your account.
  • If web hosting type for the domain is not listed or is "parking", then you need to add it to the hosting subscription.

Where no hosting type is listed for the domain ...

  • Click on the domain name
  • At bottom of page, under "Hosting Services", you'll see "Web Hosting - Not installed"   - Click on the corresponding "Add hosting" link.
  • Select a hosting type of "Website (Apache)" or "Websiite (IIS)" & click "Next"
  • Ensure the location is the same as the domain name, then click "Next" & "Finish"

Or, where the hosting type for the domain is "Parking" ...

  • Click on the domain name
  • Click on the "Web" tab, and click "Change Hosting"
  • Select a hosting type of "Website (Apache)" or "Websiite (IIS)" & click "Next"
  • Ensure the location is the same as the domain name, then click "Next" & "Finish"
At this point the domain will be moved onto the new hosting subscription. This may not take visible effect for a few hours as DNS changes propagate. Depending on the configuration of the new subscription the domain may be automatically configured for email (Qmail) or set up for web hosting on the new account. Previous custom DNS records for the domain may be removed. You can log adjust email or hosting services and DNS as required from the control panel.
