Authentication issues on mail services [Resolved]
Posted by Helpdesk Admin on 26 December 2015 09:06 AM

There is an issue with one of our email account authentication servers at the moment.

This may prevent some users logging on to webmail or fetching mail from POP3/IMAP accounts.

We expect this to be resolved within about an hour, but please check here for updates.

If outlook or other email program prompts for a new password you should not enter a different password - once the server is working correctly you will be able to log in normally.

[Update 10:45]

Problem is a failed disk array on our main authentication server - we are rebuilding this now and will restore from a recent backup.

ETA for POP3/IMAP/SMTP services back is about 2 hours - webmail will be approximately 45 minutes after that.

[Update 13:00]

All services are running normally now.

There may be some residual delays to inbound emails as they are dequeued into local mailboxes, this should clear out over the next hour or two.
